Using Merge Tags to Edit the Email Footer

How to use merge tags to edit and format the email footer

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Agility allows you to format the email footer in the same way you edit a Text component, giving you greater flexibility in how your compliance information appears. The footer pulls required contact information from fields in the right-hand pane to ensure every distribution meets anti-spam regulations.

🔹 How to Use Merge Tags to Edit Your Email Footer

Step 1: Open the Footer Component

Click directly into the footer section of your email.

This activates the right-hand settings panel, where your sender details (name, address, email, unsubscribe link, etc.) are entered.

These fields must be completed, as anti-spam laws require this information in every email you send.

Step 2: Insert Merge Tags

Use the Merge Tags control to add dynamic fields such as:

  • Company Name

  • Address

  • Email Address

  • Website

  • Unsubscribe Link

These tags automatically display the information entered in the right-hand pane.

Step 3: Format Your Footer

Once added, merge tags can be:

  • Moved or reordered

  • Bolded, italicized, resized, or recolored

  • Combined with other text for a cleaner layout

You can edit the footer exactly as you would any other text block in the email editor.

Step 4: Maintain Compliance

Your footer must always include:

  • Your organization’s name

  • A physical mailing address

  • A working unsubscribe link

Agility’s merge tags help ensure this information is always present and correctly formatted.
