How to Manually Find and Add Online Coverage in Agility

Find existing online coverage, save it to your account, or manually add it if it isn't available in Agility.

Sometimes you already know an article exists but can't find it in Agility. This guide walks you through the recommended process—from searching for the article to deciding whether to create a manual mention or contact Support.

🔹 Step 1: Search for the Article

Always search for the article before creating a manual mention.

You can search in two ways:

Search by URL (Recommended)

If you have the article URL:

  1. Copy and paste the full URL into the search field.

  2. Set the publication date to when the article was published.

  3. Search.

Tip: URL searches work best for publicly accessible webpages.

  • Search by Headline or Keywords

If you don't have the URL, or the article is behind a subscription:

    1. Search using words from the headline or your monitored keywords.

    2. To narrow the results, add the publication's root domain under Sources.

    3. Set the publication date if needed.

Keyword searches are often more effective for licensed or subscription content.

🔹 Step 2: If You Find the Article

If the article is already available in Agility:

  1. Select the mention.

  2. Save it to a folder.

Tip: Saving an existing mention is preferred over creating a manual mention because the original monitoring data and metrics are preserved.

🔹 Step 3: If You Can't Find the Article

If you've already:

  • searched by URL,

  • searched by headline or keywords,

  • checked the publication date,

and the article still isn't available, it may not have been captured automatically.

This can happen for several reasons, including:

  • the content was not received from a content provider,

  • the article was not fully indexed,

  • the publication or content is not available through Agility's current content coverage or licensing.

At this point, additional investigation is required because the reason the article wasn't captured can't be determined through searches in Agility.

🔹 Step 4: Decide What to Do Next

I need the article in my report today

Create a manual mention in Saved Coverage / Folders.

Manual mentions can be included in:

  • Saved Coverage

  • Reports

  • Briefings

Note: Creating a manual mention does not add the article to your Topic results or explain why it wasn't captured automatically.

I expected Agility to capture the article

If you believe the article should have appeared automatically, contact Support so it can be investigated.

Include:

  • Article URL (if available)

  • Publication date

  • Topic name

  • Any additional details that may help identify the article

🔹 Frequently Asked Questions

Should I create a manual mention or search first?

Always search first. If the article already exists in Agility, save it to your folder instead of creating a duplicate manual mention.

Why can't I find an article even though I know it exists?

The article may not have been received, indexed, or available through Agility's content coverage. If you've completed the searches above and still can't find it, Support can investigate.

Will creating a manual mention add the article to my Topic?

No.

Manual mentions are stored in Saved Coverage / Folders. They do not become part of your Topic results.
