All of Agility's media outreach, monitoring and reporting features are built by our in-house engineering team, which allows us to integrate the various tools so that they can inform and empower each other.
Even if you don't have access to all of Agility's features, you will benefit from this integration. If you do you use Agility for media outreach and monitoring, you can connect your work between the various modules. Of course, Agility's AI power also enhances your ability to target media contacts based on the coverage we monitor.
Below are some examples.
How Agility's Monitoring Tool Powers Media Outreach
Mentioned Keyword Search
Agility’s keyword search enables you to search for journalists covering the topics important to you, by matching your search terms to their already published content. This means that you can identify who is writing about new or niche topics, specific industries or brands, and also non-traditional journalists in our media list – such as bloggers or influencers – who may not cover a traditional beat or subject.
In the example below, I am discovering New media and Social media journalists who have recently mentioned "bluesky" in an article or social media post. This combines Agility's categorisation of the subjects the journalists cover with our monitoring coverage, which tells us whether they have been writing about the specific item of interest to us, i.e. bluesky.
Contact Profiles and Recent Coverage
Once I find a journalist I am interested in, I can review their recent coverage across several media types, and consider whether they are the right fit for my outreach. Each article or post is accessible, and I can save them as mentions to my monitoring folders. I can also select to monitor this author, which will take me directly to the module for monitoring all of his content.
All of the coverage is filterable, including by looking for the originally searched keywords, to see exactly what the contact has said about the subject of particular interest to me.
Influencer Streams
Agility's Influencer Stream allows you to track what people are saying in real time on traditional and social media about the topics that matter to you.
You can create a stream to see media activity from a specific contact list or see which journalists are writing about keywords important to you. You can create up to 4 streams at once.
Searches and Lists - Choose one of your saved searches and the stream will populate with recent coverage published by the media contacts on that search.
Lists - Choose one of your saved lists and the stream will populate with recent coverage published by the media contacts on that list.
Keyword - Search by keyword and the stream will populate with recent coverage where the keyword has been mentioned by the contacts on our database. You can search for phrases or multiple keywords in a single search.
Click the image to below to see a set of four Influencer Streams searching for, from left to right, content containing "Bluesky"; content containing "University of Birmingham"; any content from contacts on a saved search for media called "Education Contacts"; any content from contacts on a targeted media list called "Key Contacts".
Media Outreach directly from your Monitoring results
Whenever you view a set of monitoring results, either within a saved topic or new search, Agility will present you with as much information about the content that you are viewing as possible. Which means that the millions of records that we have on our database are being linked to any monitoring coverage that comes in.
In the example below, the search has returned an article in The Guardian by Jay Rayner, who is listed as a contact on Agility's media database.
Without leaving the monitoring screen and workflow, I can use the icons on the right-hand side of the mention view to view Outlet Details and Contact Details. What's even better is that all of the media outreach functionality is available. So, if this contact is a perfect fit for my targeted lists, I can save him to an existing or new list for later, and continue with reviewing my monitoring coverage.
Even better than that, I can view every single contact and outlet that has been matched to the content my coverage at once. In the example below, I can see all 161 contacts who the monitoring coverage is attributed to. Again, all of the list building functionality is available within this screen, so I can filter the list and save as many of the contacts to a list as I need to, without leaving the monitoring module.
Media Outreach from your Monitoring Reports
This functionality extends into Reports too. Within your report charts, you can click on any node to view the mentions for that day, and be presented with the monitoring mentions view.
From there, click on any outlet or contact, view their profile, and take any action you wish.
Monitoring the media you have previously targeted
Agility allows you to find out whether that press release you issued resulted in any media coverage in several ways. Focussing on how we connect the Outreach and Monitoring functions, one of the best ways is to set up a monitoring topic that searches for content published by the contacts and outlets on your targeted lists, saved searches and email distributions. In the example below, I am searching for coverage of a Classic Car Rally at Silverstone, and asking only for content from the contacts on my 'Classic Cars Silverstone PR' list, and their associated outlets in case the contacts didn't get credit for the piece. A perfect way for me to demonstrate how my work has resulted in valuable coverage.
You can also use the Sources filter to target your monitoring on specific contacts, outlets and even groups of media, depending on your personal focus.
