🔹 Create a Briefing Using Natural Language

Getting started is as simple as describing the report you want to create.

Hover over the Media Monitoring tab and click Briefings. The Canvas Agent prompt field will be visible on the page. Type your request directly into the field that reads Describe the Canvas you would like to create.

For example:

"Create a media briefing about the short-term rental industry, highlighting travel trends, consumer sentiment, sustainability initiatives, regulatory developments, and emerging industry narratives in North America."

Canvas Agent analyzes your request and begins preparing the briefing.

🔹 Writing Effective Prompts

The quality of your prompt directly impacts the quality of the briefing that Canvas Agent creates.

While simple prompts can work, providing additional context helps the AI generate more relevant topics, analysis, and reporting components.

For example, instead of:

Create a briefing about short-term rentals.

Try:

Create a media briefing about the short-term rental industry, highlighting travel trends, consumer sentiment, sustainability initiatives, regulatory developments, and emerging industry narratives in North America.

Helpful details may include:

  • Topics or themes to focus on

  • Geographic regions

  • Industries

  • Stakeholder groups

  • Coverage objectives

  • Timeframes

The more context you provide, the more focused the resulting briefing will be.

If your results are not what you expected, review your prompt before trying again. Prompts that are too broad or do not specify a subject, region, or objective may produce generic topics and analysis.

If Canvas Agent asks follow-up questions during the context-gathering phase, answering them will improve the output.

You can also refine the Coverage Source, date range, and Analysis Focus in the Canvas Setup panel before clicking Update Preview.

🔹 Refine Your Briefing Request

Before creating the briefing, Canvas Agent may ask follow-up questions to better understand your goals.

These questions help the AI determine:

  • What coverage should be included

  • Which topics should be created

  • What analysis should be generated

  • Which reporting structure is most appropriate

You can:

  • Accept suggested refinements

  • Modify recommendations

  • Skip questions that are not relevant

  • Continue using your original request

Canvas Agent also generates an enhanced version of your prompt based on the information provided.

This refined prompt becomes the foundation for the briefing that is created.

🔹 What Canvas Agent Creates

Once enough information has been collected, Canvas Agent begins building your briefing.

The AI automatically:

  • Creates supporting topics

  • Selects an appropriate Canvas template

  • Configures date ranges

  • Generates executive summaries

  • Creates AI Coverage Curator sections

  • Adds charts and visualizations

  • Defines analysis focus areas

This provides a strong starting point without requiring manual setup.

🔹 AI-Generated Reporting Components

Canvas Agent automatically configures AI-powered analysis throughout the briefing.

Depending on the reporting objective, this may include:

  • Executive summaries

  • Coverage highlights

  • Key narratives

  • AI Coverage Curator sections

  • Sentiment analysis

  • Trend analysis

Each component is generated using the context and objectives provided in your prompt.

🔹 Intelligent Template Selection

Canvas Agent automatically selects the most appropriate Canvas template based on your request.

For example, it can generate:

  • Standard media briefings

  • Competitive media briefings

As additional templates become available, Canvas Agent will continue selecting the most appropriate option based on the briefing objective.

🔹 Review and Customize Your Canvas

Before generating the final Canvas, you can review and edit the Canvas Setup panel on the right-hand side. From here you can adjust the briefing type (One-Off or Recurring), update the Brand Identity and logo, change the accent color, modify the coverage source and date range, and refine the PR CoPilot Analysis Focus.

When you are ready, click Update Preview at the bottom right of the screen to generate the Canvas. If coverage does not appear fully populated on first load, click Update Preview again to rebuild the Canvas and regenerate all AI analysis sections.

After generation, all components remain fully editable. You can switch to Expert Mode to:

  • Modify AI analysis

  • Update Coverage Curators

  • Change layouts

  • Adjust analysis focus

  • Add additional components

  • Refine topics and coverage sources

Canvas Agent creates the starting point, while Canvas gives you complete control over the final report.

🔹 Build Reports Faster

Canvas Agent helps users move from an idea to a fully populated briefing in minutes.

By automatically creating topics, selecting templates, generating AI analysis, and configuring reporting components, it dramatically reduces the time required to build media intelligence reports.

The result is a powerful starting point that can be customized further in Canvas to meet your specific reporting needs.
