While a Coverage Surge Alert notifies you when coverage increases significantly, Surge Insights use AI to analyze the coverage responsible for the surge and identify the stories, themes, and conversations driving the increase.
πΉ What Can You Do with Surge Insights?
When enabled, Surge Insights automatically add an AI Coverage Curator to your Coverage Surge Alert.
Instead of simply receiving an email that says coverage increased, you'll receive AI-generated analysis that helps explain:
What happened
What themes emerged
Which brands were discussed
The overall tone of the coverage
Potential actions your team may want to consider
This allows you to quickly understand a surge without manually reviewing every mention.
πΉ Understanding a Coverage Spike
Imagine your organization receives a Coverage Surge Alert.
Without Surge Insights, you know that coverage increased.
With Surge Insights, Agility can automatically analyze the coverage responsible for the spike and help explain:
What happened
What themes emerged
Which brands were mentioned
The overall tone of the coverage
Potential strategic actions to consider
This allows your team to understand the situation much faster than manually reviewing every mention.
πΉ Customize the Analysis
Within the AI Coverage Curator, you can select one or more Analysis Focus options.
Themes, Quotes, and Brands
Use this option when you want to understand:
The major topics being discussed
Notable quotes appearing in coverage
Which brands are being mentioned most often
Sentiment and Tone
Use this option when you want to understand:
Whether coverage is positive, negative, or neutral
The overall tone of the conversation
Strategy and Actions
Use this option when you want AI-generated observations and recommendations based on the coverage.
πΉ Understanding Surge Source and Surge Period
Surge Insights introduce two options that are unique to Coverage Surge Alerts: Surge Source and Surge Period.
These options allow the AI Coverage Curator to automatically analyze the coverage that triggered the alert.
Surge Source
Surge Source automatically uses the source being monitored by your Coverage Surge Alert.
For example, if your alert is monitoring an OpenAI Topic, Surge Source automatically analyzes coverage from that Topic.
This means you don't need to manually select a Topic each time you configure an AI Coverage Curator. The analysis will always stay aligned with the source that triggered the surge.
Surge Period
Surge Period is the one-hour timeframe in which the surge occurred.
When Agility detects a surge, it creates a one-hour analysis window around that event and uses the coverage from that period to generate insights.
This ensures the AI focuses on the coverage responsible for the spike rather than analyzing a broader date range that may contain unrelated mentions.
πΉ Example: Understand Why Coverage Surged
Imagine OpenAI experiences a sudden increase in coverage following a major product announcement.
AI Coverage Curator
Coverage Source: Surge Source
Date Range: Surge Period
Analysis Focus: Themes, Quotes, and Brands
This configuration analyzes the OpenAI coverage that triggered the alert and helps answer:
Why did coverage surge?
What stories drove the increase?
What themes appeared most frequently?
Which brands were discussed?
Because the curator uses Surge Source and Surge Period, the analysis automatically focuses on the coverage responsible for the spike.
πΉ Example: Compare Competitor Activity
You can add additional AI Coverage Curator blocks to compare multiple Topics during the same surge period.
Imagine OpenAI experiences a surge in coverage following a major product announcement.
AI Coverage Curator 1
Coverage Source: Surge Source
Date Range: Surge Period
Analysis Focus: Themes, Quotes, and Brands
This curator analyzes the OpenAI coverage that triggered the alert.
AI Coverage Curator 2
Coverage Source: Google AI Topic
Date Range: Surge Period
Analysis Focus: Themes, Quotes, and Brands
This curator analyzes Google AI coverage during the exact same timeframe.
Comparing both analyses can help answer questions such as:
Was Google AI also receiving increased coverage?
Were OpenAI and Google AI discussed in the same articles?
Was the surge part of a larger industry conversation?
Were competitor announcements influencing the news cycle?
This approach can help provide additional context around a surge and surface competitive insights that may not be visible when analyzing your coverage alone.
