Using AI Analysis in Media Briefings

Updated this week

AI Analysis allows you to generate insights inside your Briefings by applying AI summarization, narrative extraction, sentiment commentary, or custom instructions to any selection of mentions.

You can analyze coverage article-by-article or as a group — and even automate analysis for recurring briefings.

🔹 Adding an AI Analysis Component

  1. In your Briefing, open Briefing Components and add the AI Analysis section.

  2. Move the component up or down to position it where you want it to appear in your briefing.

Once added, click the pencil icon inside the component to configure your analysis.

🔹 Configuring Your AI Analysis Settings

In the settings panel, you can define:

  • Coverage to analyze
Select saved coverage you’ve added to the briefing, or link to automated coverage sections.

  • Analysis focus
Choose the type of insight you want (Executive Summary, Key Takeaways, Brand Impact, Top Narratives, Sentiment Opinion, or your own custom prompt).

  • Date range
Define which period of coverage the AI should evaluate.

  • Generation method

    • Generate on Publish – The AI analysis is created automatically when your briefing is sent out. Ideal for recurring daily, weekly, or monthly briefings.

    • Generate Now – Immediately produce the analysis so you can review and edit before sending.

Example:
Using Generate on Publish, you can automate an Executive Summary for the last 30 days of coverage, delivered each time your recurring briefing is sent.

The summary below was quickly generated by an instruction to apply an Executive Summary to a selection of media coverage, and include key takeways.

🔹 Reviewing and Editing Your Analysis (Generate Now)

If you choose Generate Now, Agility will open the Generate Analysis window.

Here you can:

  • Preview the draft analysis

  • Switch between analysis types

  • Edit the text directly

  • Review examples and linked mentions surfaced by the AI

For example, a Top Narratives analysis will identify major themes across your chosen date range and link to articles illustrating each narrative.

🔹 Using Custom Prompts

In addition to structured analysis types, you can write your own Custom Prompt — giving you full control.

Examples:

  • “Summarize how our brand is positioned compared to competitors.”

  • “Identify risks or emerging issues we should track.”

  • “Provide three talking points suitable for an internal executive update.”

Custom Prompts allow you to tailor the briefing to different audiences, departments, or reporting styles.

🔹 Auto-Generated Insights in Automated Briefings

Intelligent Insights can be fully automated in scheduled briefings.

You can automatically include:

  1. AI analysis for each individual mention, or

  2. One AI summary for a group of mentions

🔹Automated analysis of individual mentions

  1. Create your briefing as usual

  2. Add a section for automatically added coverage (see related article)

  3. Specify:

    • Topic

    • Date range

  4. Name the section and set a mention limit

  5. Select Generate Insights Automatically

  6. Choose the Insight Type

  7. Enable Show Insights in the right-hand panel

🔹Automatic translation

You can automatically translate summaries:

  • Select the briefing section

  • Set Insight Type → Intelligent Summary

  • Choose your preferred output language

Important

When previewing a briefing, you will see only placeholders.
Actual insights generate at send time, so there may be a brief delivery delay.

Each briefing supports up to 100 auto-generated insights.

🔹 Automated Analysis for a Group of Articles

If you want AI to produce one unified analysis for a collection of mentions:

  1. Select mentions

  2. Choose AI Analysis

  3. Enter your custom prompt

  4. Generate

Perfect for:

  • Crisis communications

  • Executive reporting

  • Sponsorship evaluations

  • Campaign wrap-ups

  • Competitor analysis

This produces a unified AI summary covering all included mentions.
